Sleep Studies



In this series I’m thinking about what happens when we frame ordinary everyday acts as performance. When we take something like rest, for example, away from its usual setting or function and into new forms to be witnessed, pondered, celebrated, critiqued... whatever!

These images were shot on self timer, standing upright against a blank wall in my studio, and paired with footage of the canal from my cycle home as the sun went down.

Respite _ escape _ rejuvination _

A space for contraction or release _ a space of expansion _ of nourishment _

A moment when reality crumbles _ or when reality surfaces in new forms _ 

When fears arise _ when possibilities open _
